this week no IlloF for me...
dreams
i remember Winsor McCay being THE illustrator of dreams, so i went through his books for ideas.. but i couldn't get my dreams illustrated..
in my dreams i'm often lost, running through a maze of streets and alleys and houses from my youth, never finding what i'm looking for, nowhere people i used to know, stairs up and down... i see it all, yet the illo won't come.. :/
i give up..

Winsor did some pretty incredible staircases going up and
down and all over. Would have liked ot have seen yours.
Thanks for the nice words about DFG. I had a great time
with that book and I loved the story too! Esme is terrific.
This topic stumped me for a while as well! Actually, your lovely "Door" picture below has a dream-like quality, so that will do nicely :).
Windsor McKay is the Master! Maurice Sendak's In the Night Kitchen is partly a tribute to the absolutely amazing Little Nemo in Slumberland comic pages - those are just incredible art! There's also Dreams of the Rarebit Fiend - extraordinary work!
this drives me nuts, twice i wrote a reaction and twice i clicked it away...
so, indeed how could i forget all those.. and Escher for the endless stairs and Kafka for the endless corridors..
anyway, an image is forming in my head but it won't be ready today...
