paper
i tried to use aquarel on real aquarelpaper, Hahnemühle Echt-Bütten Aquarell . rauh
200g/m², but somehow it wouldn't take the paint, i had to use some force, rub it in..
i thought it might be a little oily cause i had used it to draw with oil pastels, so i tried another one but with the same result..
aquarel paint is from Talens Van Gogh and from Winsor&Newton Cotman, both in tubes..
anybody else ever had that problem?

I've had spots on w/c paper be resistant to paint, as if oil were there, but not the whole sheet.
This has a nice watery quality though!
that sounds like the same problem...
watery it was... :)
I've heard of people soaking the paper first to remove the sizing then stretching it and using it. But if the sizing is only in certain spots, it sounds like poor quality paper. Arches is supposed to be awesome paper. My art teacher won't use anything else.
the paper is stretched on a block and it's supposed to be used like that.. i can't soak the whole block...
i know what you mean though.
